Cognitive-Behavioral
Therapy is the backbone of my therapy method for treating Anxiety and
Depression.
Through testing, I can determine which
of the Anxiety Disorders you have, and whether it is accompanied by
Depression. I will prepare a treatment plan for you which will address
your specific Anxiety Disorder.
Each weekly session will begin with a
summary of the previous week's session. Homework assignments will be
discussed with emphasis on the positive. If you are in therapy to take
back your life, there are no failures, only perhaps slower times than
others. After all, you are in therapy and that is the biggest success
you have had so far.
Each session will include feedback,
handout material for home use, books, tapes, record keeping or whatever is
appropriate for that segment of the Model I use. You are most likely
wondering what is a Model? A Model is similar to a recipe for cake.
If you want the cake to turn out right each time you bake one, you will use
a recipe to ensure you prepare it with all the right ingredients.
So it is with any of the Psychological Disorders. If you want to treat
a disorder properly, there is a written recipe (Model) to follow which
insures that the success can be duplicated.
Each session, however, is tailored to
the individual's needs. If you have a perfect life, with no problems
other than Anxiety, then that is what we put all of our energy into.
However, that is rather unrealistic, since we are all human, and most have
other things going on in our lives other than Anxiety. In this case,
any problem which delays the progress of the Anxiety Model, is dealt with
from week to week to keep the slate clean. This is what keeps the
therapy real.
